Before Starting the Vehicle

  • The parking brake should be applied
  • Electrical accessories like headlights should be off
  • Seatbelts should be fastened for all occupants
  • The ignition key should be switched to the proper position

Starting Your Hybrid – Keyless Start

If your vehicle has a keyless start, this process is super easy:

  • The accelerator pedal does not need to be touched.
  • The brake pedal should be fully depressed.
  • Press the start button.

Why Won't It Start?

If your vehicle won't start and you have keyless start, there could be a couple of reasons:

  • There is no charge on the key battery.
  • Frequencies for the key are jammed.

Starting Your Hybrid – With a Key

If you're not using keyless start, follow these instructions for ignition key starting:

  • The accelerator does not have to be touched.
  • The brake pedal should be fully depressed. Press the clutch pedal if you have a manual transmission.
  • To start the engine, go to position lll with a turn of your key.

Why Won't Your Hybrid Start?

There can be any number of reasons why your hybrid Honda isn't starting. Here are some common causes:

  • Dead battery or batteries. Remember, a hybrid has a couple of batteries, so one could be dead if the vehicle won't start.
  • Starting is being prevented by the security system. By making sure your key fob is close to you, you may be able to remedy this situation.
  • Problems with your fuel. You might be out of gas, or particles and dirt may be clogging your fuel filter. Then again, the culprit may be your fuel pump.
  • A fuse may be blown. Check the fuse box.
  • A faulty ignition is frequently to blame.
  • The battery in your key fob is dead.
  • Your engine oil has been overfilled. The vehicle may not start because, into the combustion chamber or crank chamber, excess amounts of oil have found their way.
